There are two directions that reflect the inspiration of my art.  One is detailed geometric designs.  The other is following the wood grain found in common pieces of lumber.  I create art simply for the sake of creating.  I prefer the journey over the final destination.  Creating geometric art allows me more journey time.  I guess it is the same way with the inspired wood grain pieces.  When I am finished with a piece, I enjoy it because it is finished, but I am more excited for the opportunity to begin another journey through another piece.

I enjoy using Acrylic paints since they are water soluble.  The bold colors found in the color spectrum are my choice of hues.  Rarely do I use tints and shades.  My pieces reflect varieties of color schemes that naturally create visual movement.  For years I have worked with wood creating furniture pieces for my home out of necessity.  I now am inspired to use wood in more creative ways.  I get my inspiration from many sources, but my favorite source is the lumber yard.  I particularly enjoy looking at the different pieces of wood to see what the piece can become.   I have been told that my style of creativity is unlike most contemporary artists.  I create art for art’s sake with no social or political agenda.  I do it for fun hoping that those who look at it enjoy it because it is fun.

My favorite place to be is my woodshop where I work to create the foundation of my pieces.  I love the smell of the sawdust as it helps me to escape into that world of creativity.  I can literally spend hours just sanding a piece of wood as I take it to a place of perfect smoothness then on to a world of hues.

My pieces reflect my lifestyle which I would describe as organized chaos.  I like the clean edges found in my geometric pieces, but I also love the freedom I experience through painting the wood grain pieces.
